A third of learners in college transfer to new institutions each year. This equates to millions of learners transferring each year without a guarantee that credits will transfer, costing students time and money. With input from state and local stakeholders, learners, and community partners, The Attainment Network has analyzed the issues affecting Credit Transferability, researched best practices nationally and locally and crafted recommendations to create a fair and equitable strategy ensuring seamless credit transfers for learners.
Significant strides were made in 2023 to advance a longitudinal data system in Colorado, but further alignment and additional resources are needed. While Colorado is one of only 17 states to have passed stackable credential pathway legislation, successful implementation requires critical next steps.
